TEATRO DALLAS STATEMENT ON
EQUITY AND TOLERANCE

Cultural equity embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all
people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented
based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity,
socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in the
development of arts policy; the support of artists; the nurturing of accessible, thriving
venues for expression; and the fair distribution of programmatic, financial, and
informational resources.

In accordance with these principles, Teatro Dallas is committed to promoting equal
opportunity, diversity, gender parity and inclusion in its organizational policies and in the
work that it produces, including its plays, educational programs and in its community
outreach.

Teatro Dallas recognizes that art environments require risk, courage, vulnerability, and
investment of our physical, emotional, and intellectual selves. Teatro Dallas has a proud
legacy of producing daring, innovative, and risk-taking work. As artists in our
community, we seek to nurture spaces with strong safety nets that support that ethos
without compromising a visceral and authentic experience for our artists and audiences.

Space free of harassment, whether it be sexual, or based in race, gender,
religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or ability

• Nurturing environments which allow us to challenge ourselves, our
audiences, and our communities; support risk of mind and body; and
establish the freedom to create theatre that represents the full range of
human experience

Teatro Dallas has adopted policies that allow for these conditions to flourish and
makes them available to those it employs and to the public upon request.
